Nolan & Marisca

Pressure – photographing another togs daughter's wedding = lots of pressure!

Karen, the bride’s mother contacted me via email quite some time back wanting a quotation from us to photograph Marisca & Nolan’s wedding in sunny SA. The bride and her family moved to Brisbane +- 10 years ago, but Marisca’s dream for her wedding was to come back to SA to get married on a game farm. They decided on a small intimate wedding with their closest friends and family attending. The guests attending were pretty much spread from all over the world, but I understand that they will have a big party when they go back home for the rest of their friends who could not join them in SA. How lucky can you be to actually have 2 parties celebrating!

It is a huge compliment when someone tells you that they booked you first and then they booked the rest of the wedding around you! Now I must just add that Karen is a keen tog in AUS herself so the photos were extremely important to them.   It was so important to them that they actually decided the week prior to the wedding to move the church ceremony ½ hour earlier in case we needed more time with the couple! How neat is that!!

Although we “talked” quite a bit via email we only met Marisca & Nolan and their parents the day of the wedding. It actually felt like we knew them for ever and this made our jobs even easier than we thought!

Driving to the venue which is about 170 km from our house, we got some heavy clouds and rain and I hoped it would clear because they wanted to go on a game drive as part of their couple shoot. Their prayers were answered and we had so much fun and laughter on the drive.  Put some South Africans, Aussies and Americans together on a game drive and see how much fun and laughter you will have. Teaching an Aussie to speak Afrikaans and listening to their pronounciation of the words was just hilarious! Thanks to the stunning bridesmaids and best men as well as Marisca & Nolan, we had heaps of fun with you lot!

We hope you enjoy your honeymoon in Sun City and we know you will love your photos!

Take care

Danny & Helandie

Meet Danny and Helandei - one of the most “funnest” couples we’ve had the privilege of shooting in a long time. Helanri looked stunning in the dress, designed and made by her best friends mother.  Watch out local designers - you've got competition!  Heilandrie knew exactly where she wanted her photos taken and took us to a nearby wheat field. We did most of the photo shoot there – a perfect setting and absolutely beautiful!!!  Even the weather played along.

Danny and Helandie are both part of big families and it was clear that both families have very close ties to each other. The group photos were plenty of fun and laughter.

Thank you also to Estelle and Ben of Diamond Hill (http://www.dhcv.co.za/)  who handled the formalities extremely professionally as usual.  It was also a pleasure to work with Leon from the Video People - videographers who know their stuff!!

You guys must enjoy your honeymoon – see you when you come back.

Zani's Matric Farewell

All girls dream of their wedding gowns, but before that you get the hype of a matric farewell.

We had a blast shooting our daughter, Zani's matric farewell photos.  We just love using her as a model, and by now she is so used to being in front of the cameras.  The shoot started at Castello di Monte ( www.castello.co.za ) and from there we went to the Barnyard Theatre Menlynpark ( www.barnyardtheater.co.za ).  We had a wonderfull day and I am sure that her photo's are the envy of her friends.

Many thanks to the staff of The Barnyard Menlyn and Castello di Monte for allowing us to use the facilities to do the shoot.

Zani, you looked absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!

Enjoy!!!

Francois & Penny

OK, so I have to start yet again with … another stunning wedding + a stunning couple = stunning photos! I know it must sound cheesy, but if facts are true, then who are we to question it?!! I know when you look at these photos; you will see what I am talking about.

Francois and Penny live in London. They moved there 7 years ago, but decided to come home to get married on SA ground where their friends and family can be a part of their special day. They were blessed as they had a table full of their friends from London who came along to celebrate in their special day with them as well.

Francois and Penny were one of those couples who really listened to everything that we said and suggested and therefore opted to do their shoot before the ceremony. Just as well, because we had buckets full of rain pouring down when the ceremony had to start. It rained throughout the ceremony and then cleared up so that they could go on their boat trip down the river. Boy o boy, did they enjoy that. Must say we also felt like celebrities as all the guests stood on the balcony and waved us and them goodbye.

Francois was one of the most relaxed and most spontaneous grooms that we have ever photographed. I am sure that he must have been a model in his younger days as he and the camera really enjoyed each others company! Francois, we loved loved loved your “Elvis Presley” impersonated dance and could not resist to show it on our blog! Penny, you looked stunning and I so LOVE your shoes! You actually never stopped smiling and laughing. You guys were such a joy to photograph and also a special thanks to your best men and bridesmaids. They were real sports and full of fun.

Thanks again for using us and allowing us to photograph your love for each other. Have a safe trip back home and have a good dream about your album, because it is going to be very special!
