Werner & Michelle

This wedding was our last wedding up in Gauteng for this year (only 1 more wedding in Stellenbosch after this one) and what a way to end an exciting and stunning year! This was indeed a great one … stunning couple, stunning venue, food to die for, a stunning Italian restaurant feeling to the wedding and decorations which suited this style tremendously!  Thanks to Ben & Estelle of Diamond Hill who always make us feel sooooo at home!

We met Werner & Michelle a few months back when we did their e-session at a local Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. We were eagerly informed about their Italian themed wedding for their big day. A lot of planning and handwork went into this wedding as they made all the table cloths, chair covers and little flags for the cheese themself. We did their shoot before the ceremony as they planned on opening the dance floor outside as the sun sets. They had an absolutely gorgeous day with no hint of rain until about 8pm, but then it came down in buckets.  We were busy with the table group shots and I quickly ran outside to gather all our equipment.  A huge thanks must go to one of the lady guests (sorry I did not get your name) who guarded our cameras with her life when the wind started blowing  before the rain came.  Thanks, thanks thanks!!!

When Werner and Michelle met each other in the church for their photo session Werner took the Bible and read to them, this was really so special and intimate! They did a lot of things different than the norm. They had 4 priests who married them; they opened their dance floor outside as the sun set and they did not do the bouquet and garter throwing.

Well done you guys – your Italian theme came through nicely. We hope you have a stunning honeymoon. See you when you get back.

Pieter & Hanchen

This one is really close to home. Pieter and Hanchen promised themselves to each other at The Moon and Sixpence this past weekend. We have known Hanchen and Pieter for the past 10 years. Two very special people to all who know them, and certainly to us. It felt like I was shooting my own daughter’s wedding. Hanchen is probably the most talented person I know. She has the voice of an angel, plays the piano like Mozart, has spare brainpower so that her marks (in her final year studying as a doctor) is so high that she does not have to write exams – and that is just the beginning.  I can go on and on and on and on. Her list of talents is so very impressive and makes one realize that some people were really at the front of the line every single time when any and every talent was handed out. But considering all her talents – the one that is the most special is her heart. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is the kindest, most lovable and special person you will ever meet in your entire life. Setting an example as a Christian to everyone around her, she gives praise to her Creator for who she is.

You might now think: “Who is the lucky fish who landed this one?” Well it is Pieter – a perfect match for Hanch and a perfect gentleman. A Model type himself, is as in love with Hanch as she is with him. Pieter Jnr, one of seven (yes 7!) kids, had to listen to his father deliver the very special sermon and promised to take good care of Hanch. He’d better – I’ll be keeping my eye on him…….. Pieter Snr. Is one of the preachers in our church and always delivers the most inspiring sermons without fail every time. What an awesome, awesome family!!!

I can really carry on for pages about this wedding and the people involved, but then you will never get to see the images filled with love and emotion. There were so many special and memorable moments that happened on the day, down to one of the flower girls who donated a tooth to the tooth fairy – a first for us!

Pieter and Hanch, we love you and know that you will have a spectacular future, full of love and achievement, together. You two are stars!!! We hope that you enjoy your images as much as we enjoyed shooting them.

All our love. (O yes! Thank you also Hanch for being our kid’s no 1 choice in babysitters over the past years!)

PS. Thank you to David-John from Make-up international – a true professional ( david-john@mweb.co.za ). He had Hanch ready and beautiful on time. One look at his spread of make-up makes one realize that he is not your average make-up artist. He only uses the best – and delivers the best. I will recommend him to ALL brides.

Cheers

Johan & Mariette

It is always so nice to photograph someone whom you have known since childhood. We met Mariette and her parents about 13 years ago when Mariette, her sister Carmia and our daughter Zani did drummies for the same team. We have seen Mariette grow into the stunning women she is today! She was always such a beautiful girl, but on her wedding day she was just WOW!

Although it is high summer in South Africa we have had a few winter days and plenty of rain prior to their wedding day last week. All the winter jackets were dug out for the week as it was freezing here in Pretoria.  Driving to the wedding which is about an hours drive from our house, we had pouring rain most of the way. We have never shot at this venue before and therefore our heads went into planning mode. Where are we going to shoot, what does the venue offer us for the shoot and will we be able to do some outside photos. Luck was on our side and we had the most perfect weather for their shoot. Some heavy clouds together with a beautiful sunset were just so perfect for this special couple’s day. Mariette looked absolutely stunning and Johan did a good job by looking very handsome as well.

Thanks so much for your hospitality and thank you for being stars on you wedding day, we enjoyed every minute of the day together with the 2 of you.

Jako & Sonja

What do you get when you mix a beautiful bride and a stunning venue.  Lots and lots of fun!!!  This past weekend we were at a fairly new venue in Potchefstroom – Around the World ( www.aroundtheworldvenue.co.za ) to shoot the wedding of Jako and Sonja.  It is clear that the owners of this venue mean business.  The venue is well planned and the finishing is just exquisite.  The service is also tops as well.  As part of the venue they have a shop selling oriental furniture – lots and lots of stuff for us to use as backdrops!

Now back to Jako and Sonja – Sonja is simply one of the most stunning women we have had the privilege to shoot in a long time.  Every now and then I had to remind myself that we were busy with a wedding and not a shoot with some or other famous model!!  The cameras just kept on clicking and clicking and clicking….. Not taking anything away from Jako – he looked very smart, but I am sure that there are some broken hearts somewhere........

Sonja also had the luxury of TWO, yes 2 wedding dresses.  She wore the one for the preshoot and church ceremony and the other one for the couple shoot and reception.  (Sigh!) Some people have all the luck!!!

This wedding was lots of fun and we really enjoyed it very much.

Thank you for letting us share your special day and enjoy the images

Niel & Bernadette

Yip had a good one again this past weekend! We traveled to Brits to a new venue – Zakopane Country Village ( http://www.ileadweddings.co.za/zakopane-country-village-wedding-venue.html ). This jewel of a venue was where Niel and Bernadette decided to tie the knot. Everyone was worried about the weather but it turned out to be a fantastic day after some rain in the morning.

The wedding was very laid back and relaxed. Niel and Bernadette decided to do the photo shoot before the wedding ceremony and afterwards relaxed with their guests, enjoying the sunset before the reception started, and what a breathtaking sunset it was. You will agree when you see the images on their portfolio.

We had a blast with them and Bernadette, who had done some modeling work in the past, was an absolute pleasure to photograph. We had a lot of fun and must admit that, once again, we can only say that we are blessed with the truly special people whom we have the privilege to share their special day with.

You guys must have a blast on your honeymoon!!!
