Rob & Bridget

Rain, rain, rain and more rain!! Almost the whole of last week it rained and the forecast for the weekend was even MORE rain.  Rob and Bridget tied the knot on Saturday.  Bridget must have special connections, because a more perfect day for a wedding she could not ask for.  Rob and Bridget go married at The Longmeadow Restaurant and Piano Lounge in Fourways Sandton and their photo shoot was done at the Palazzo Hotel at Monte Casino.  The wedding ceremony was held outside on the lawn at Longmeadow and a rainy day would have been a disaster.  Bridget, being the organised person she is, planned her wedding down to the very finest detail and bad weather was simply not part of the program , hence a perfect day!!  Bridget did thank her “special connection” for the weather at the reception – there is no question who will be part of their marriage in the future.  Bridget, you are such an example to other Christians with your faith and trust!

There were so many details that made their wedding very special and one to remember.  From the shoot in the Palazzo Penthouse, the Morris that had to be pushed off the lawn, the photo booth (always a winner) to their spectacular choreographed dance at the reception.  Rob and Bridget are two very special and beautiful people.  They are now somewhere in Europe on their honeymoon – enjoy!!

We also worked with excellent service providers, Rob from DVI productions http://digitalvideoimages.co.za did the video and Paul Tavares from OMD ( 084 697 7807 - ptavares@mweb.co.za ) was responsible to keep the party rocking – and what a fantastic job he did!!!  The staff of Longmeadow really knew their stuff and the food was excellent.  Bridget's make-up was done by Stavroula Georgakis http://www.stavmua.com .

Otto & Elmarie

We spent this past Friday at Sammy Marks with Otto and Elmarie.  Sammy Marks Museum will always be one of our favourite places to shoot at.  The old buildings and faded colours just work on images and there are so many spots to use.

We were worried about rain, but when it comes to rainy days on weddings we are truly blessed.  We seldom get rain, and if we do, it always stops when we start with the couple shoot and then starts again when we are finished.

We had a lot of fun you guys, and you must enjoy your honeymoon in Oudtshoorn.

We were really pleased that one of our images entered for the Sony Profoto Awards was selected.  The competition was fierce and over 6000 images were entered for the competition.  Only 251 single entries were chosen to receive awards in all the categories entered.  The Portfolio Awards will be made public on the night of the Gala Event - 8 April 2010

Congratulations to our fellow photographers and friends Mario Sales, Stefan Steenkamp (Zarazoo), Jaco Fourie (J&D Photography), Christine Meintjes and Duwayne, who all did exceptionally well in the competition.

Our entry was awarded in the Portraiture Category.

Stuart & Corne

This past weekend we travelled to Dunkeld Country Estate in Dullstroom ( www.dunkeldestate.co.za ) to shoot the wedding of Stuart and Corne. It rained the whole week before the wedding and we were expecting rain on the day of the wedding as well, but it turned out to be a fantastic day to get married and especially for photos.

The idyllic setting of Dulstroom made for very special images and there were so many special spots as you will see when you view all the images.

Now, not to add any pressure, Stuart and Corne printed on their thank you cards - handed out to all attending guests - that they got the photographers of their dreams to shoot the wedding!! What a compliment for us, but again – no pressure...............! We simply had to produce the goodies, but with such a stunning couple it was easy. Everything worked together, from the weather to the horses walking to greet Stuart and Corne when they were standing in the open field. What a special wedding.

You guys must enjoy your honeymoon in Mauritius.

Christo & Lisa

Where does one start with a wedding like this one. We were booked for this wedding one full year ago and since then have really been looking forward to this day. We knew everything would have a touch of difference than the normal wedding. From the wedding golf cart to the angel wings at the reception to the huge white glasses and the fun photo booth, the blue shooters instead of champagne, the frame on the beach as well as the beach slops with “just married” underneath them and to end it off, the thank you bag awaiting the guests in their rooms. (this bag was filled with everything necessary for a party night – use your imagination!)

We had an awesome awesome time and we thank you so much for your hospitality. We were given so much time to really make these stunning memories for the 2 of you. The biggest and best present a couple can give a photographer on a wedding day is TIME. Christo & Lisa wanted a TTD session as well and booked us to stay until Monday after the wedding. This meant that we could do some imagery on Sunday afternoon with a stunning sunset and then do a beautiful sunrise and TTD session the Monday morning. WOW is all I can say … the images speak for themselves.

Just want to add that coming from Pretoria where the air is quite dry my hair definitely did not like the humidity of Natal!
