Carmia Essakow

Had the pleasure of shooting Carmia, the sister of Mariette ( a previous bride -http://www.tphoto.co.za/johanandmariette).  We have known Carmia since she was a toddler and she was the perfect model for this vintage shoot.  Why is it that some people are just naturals when it comes to posing in front of the camera?

Thanks Carmia for a stirling job as a model.

Andrew & Natasha - Maternity shoot

Did I really really say yes to this shoot? … What was I thinking, me being mostly a wedding tog wanting to do a maternity session of one of the best baby photographers in SA.  Yes, I do want to try my hand at some maternity shoots, but maybe I should rather have said yes to someone NOT in the photography business … Anyway it did sound like an awesome idea when I received the enquiry from Natasha regarding a maternity session, especially someone as interesting and talented as Tash.  So yes, I jumped at the chance, but now it’s Saturday morning and I really am not feeling so confident about this once good idea!  Too late though, can’t call them now as they are on their way…

Do photographers get nervous when shooting other photographers images?  The answer has to be yes; somewhat.  Not sure why though, because as I experienced with a recent family shoot which our good photographer friend, Mario Sales did for us, the only thing I concentrated on being on the other side of the lens was to smile, stand and pose right for the photographer.  You actually don’t even think about anything that the photographer is doing on the other side of the lens.  Cheeze you are too much into the shoot itself thinking double chins, sloppy arms … no time to think what he is doing on the other side!

So back to Tash and her gorgeous family.  When she send me a mail earlier in the year regarding her maternity shoot, I decided that I would love to do her shoot.  Firstly because she is a funky person and secondly I want to do some more of these type of shoots.  I did a few maternity sessions earlier in my career, but we got so busy with weddings that there was no more time to fit in any of these types of sessions.  This is definitely not the ordinary maternity shoot, just my cup of tea as I absolutely hate studio sessions.  I love shooting in the outdoors where people are just so much more relaxed than in a studio.

Just have to say that little Kami did an awesome job, obviously with the help of her talented photographer mom she is a total natural in front of the camera.

Here are a few of our favorite images of this session.  Thanks you guys for letting us be a part of your special maternity session, we loved it to bits.  All the best with the birth of little Tae who is joining us in a couple of weeks time.

Markus & Leoni

Got a call from Leoni last year enquiring about our wedding photography and availability and unfortunately was already booked for their original wedding date.  To my surprise I got a call a few days later telling me that she is moving their date to fit in with our calendar.  WOW, it has happened before, but it always makes one feel so special when couples move their date because they really really want you as their photographer!  Meeting Leoni and her mom for the 1st time the week before her wedding, her mom said “Leoni actually had her photographer before she got engaged!”  How cool is that!  She saw another couples wedding images who also got married in Nelspruit last year and apparently decided that we were the photographers she wants.  All Markus had to do was pop the big question!  So the day after their engagement we got the call and like they say … the rest is history!

We loved everything about this wedding, especially this stunning couple.  Leoni has a sultry look and is so photogenic, the camera really loves her.  Markus lights up a room with that huge smile of his, it really is so contagious. 2 Beautifully photogenic people make for some of the best images we could have asked for.

What we did not like was the buckets full of rain that just did not want to stop at all for the couple session.  None the less, we had loads of time for some stunning images with a couple whose spirit could not be dampened by the rain.

We also loved the stunning but different decorations which suited their personalities so well.  They also decided to have their reception at one of the prime restaurants in White river ( www.mag-nolia.co.za ) and on the menu were gourmet burgers, chips and salad.  The sweets table was something to behold with traditional Koeksisters, milk tarts, marshmallows and many more treats.

We really have to thank you both for your friendliness and hospitality and wish you a blessed life ahead.

Take care

Deon & Natasha

PS:  Glad we could assist with your sound problem, we are sure you boogied until the early hours of the morning!

Tiaan & Elita

Fairytale, dreamy, mystique … these are just a few words that come to mind describing Tiaan & Elita’s wedding.    Is there any other word to describe this wedding other than … WOW?   From Elita’s wedding dress which was designed by Marianne Fassler, one of South Africa’s best and most well known fashion designers, to the finest detail like the heart baskets for the little flower girls, their beautiful dresses by Sibella and a handsome groom, this wedding was well thought out and planned.

Lots and lots of flowers – that was one of Elita’s wishes for her wedding day.  Must admit that I have not seen so many flowers for some time and the most interesting arrangements were displayed on all the tables which one could stare at for ages!

With the first sight of Elita’s beautiful dress, her bridesmaids and flower girls dresses, I had this huge urge to start photographing immediately.  We knew this shoot was going to be a killer and shy Elita blossomed in front of the camera.  First thing that came to my mind when I saw Tiaan before the ceremony was boy oh boy you don’t know what vision is waiting for you.  Sorry Tiaan, but I did not lie when I told you that your bride is looking so much more beautiful than you, I am sure you will agree with this statement!

You 2 were real rock stars in front of the lens and were so much fun to work with.  We absolutely love how these images came out and are sure that you would agree that your wedding truly  was spectacular.

Have a great honeymoon (forgot to ask where you 2 are going!) and will see you when you get back.

Allan & Scarlette

The world is really a small place!  Let me explain.  Allan & Scarlet met Henry & Peggy in Australia and both couples being ex South Africans and medical doctors became friends instantly.  Now the story behind the story … we were the photographers at Henry & Peggy’s wedding a couple of years ago here in South Africa and when I got the mail from Scarlet enquiring about our wedding photography we were delighted to find out that Peggy suggested us for this job!  When we get referred like this we know we are doing something right!

A few mails back & forth “speaking” to Scarlet we knew we would really get along well with this couple and we therefore could not wait for their wedding.  What an awesome awesome couple yet again.  It’s true; we really do get the best couples ever to photograph.

Friday and Saturday prior to the wedding day it was wet and raining most of the time and this would/could be a huge problem because they wanted an outside garden wedding.  On Sunday morning it did not look any better weather wise but closer to the service time the skies cleared up and they had a beautiful garden service just as they planned.  Lots of red at the wedding in true Chinese tradition.

Family and friends came all the way from Hong Kong, Cape Town and Australia to be with them on this special occasion.  You guys were awesome and have awesome friends and family who really made us feel so at home.  Thanks for your part in these images, we think they rock! Allen was also privileged to have his Granny at the spectacular age of 93 attending the wedding.

Thanks to our good friend and fellow tog, Estelle van Loggerenberg, who came along for the shoot.
