JK Venter's 21st Birthday

Had a blast at this mafia themed 21st Birthday of JK.  This party rocked from the word go and everybody dressed to fit this theme beautifully.

JK is a student at the University of Cape Town and his parents live in Johannesburg, so Jan & Anchen decided to fly down and give him this birthday bash where all his varsity friends could join in the fun.  I think everyone who was there would agree that this was a winner of a party.

Happy 21st JK!  Enjoy some of the pictures of your party...

What a blessed and awesome day!!

What an awesome awesome day!!!!  Our daughter Zani won the Secondary Schools Category at the gala evening of the Nikon Africa Photographic Awards 2010 held at Monte Casino.  The wedding portfolio of twelve images we entered came third and on top of that our good friends Mario Sales and Estelle van Loggerenberg did extremely well too.  Mario came second in the Wedding Portfolio Category and Estelle took the first prize for her individual entry in the single entry category for weddings.  Well done to all of you!!

We could not make the function as we are still in Las Vegas attending the Skip's Summer School for photographers, but to top the days events, tonight we saw the most amazing show we have ever seen.  It was the Cirque do Soleil performance at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  No words can describe this performance - it is simply breathtaking!!!!

Check out our portfolio and Zani's images at the links below.

Great Gatsby & Vintage Shoot - Johannesburg

We really had a blast with this one.  Rob & Bridget are two models to die for.  When we did their wedding in April we just knew that we needed to get them in front of the lens again.  Natasha had this great idea for a themed shoot in Johannesburg and it turned out to be something awesome!!  We decided to do the shoot on a Sunday afternoon when things are not so busy in town but boy was it freezing cold!

Thanks Rob & Bridget for making this shoot one to remember and many thanks for being such great models in the freezing weather.

Enjoy.

SOCCER WORLD CUP 2010 SOUTH AFRICA

What an amazing awesome experience!

Although we don't really watch soccer (apart from our son Martin) we are now hooked!  We were fortunate to go to Soccer City in Johannesburg to watch the game between Argentinia against Korea and man oh man was this just awesome.  Such a great vibe!  I have never seen any stadium like this one, it is so well planned!   Just loved Maradonna's reactions when his team either scored or did not score!  I also have a new found love for my Nikon D3, what an awesome camera!

We also got some tickets for the game between Australia against Ghana at the Rustenburg stadium.  This one was a real African vibe.  I had to smile at the 2 Ghana supporters with the pot full of muti on their heads.

During the world cup we also moved house and now myself and the kids live in Cape Town and hubby Deon lives in Australia for the time being.  He is busy job hunting so hopefully we will join him very soon in AUS as a family.

We wanted to experience the soccer vibe in Cape Town as well and decided to visit the Cape Town fanpark where we had lots of fun and laughter.  I just loved taking photos of the people and vibe both times we were there.  Herewith some of my images of our very succesful soccer world cup in South Africa.  Enjoy!

PS:  Sorry for posting so many images, but I'm sure those of you who were not in SA during the world cup would not mind to see so many images at all!

Brisbane City Centre

 Hi All

I was down in Brisbane City Center yesterday and saw some interesting people - a lonely old sax player, Charlie Chaplin  and some others.  Take a look and tell me what you think.  These pictures are straight out of my Nikon and not edited - just love the Nikon!!!!

Natasha will upload again soon - she is still back in SA, but battling somewhat with the internet connection.

Cheers

Deon
